Job Responsibilities: Combination of Research and Patient Care
Education/Training: Psychology; Master in Psycho-oncology, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain
About Me/My interests: Clinical: I am interested in the cancer patient family’s adaptation to the disease and treatment, search for meaning in the disease process, coping strategies they implement, palliative care and end of life issues. Palliative care is perhaps my greatest interest, including the quality of care that should be given at the end of life, symptom management, bereavement, and the search for meaning after a child`s death.
Research: I am mostly interested in the dynamics behind treatment non-adherence and abandonment of treatment. Both matters are a grave issue in third world countries, even in countries where treatment is made completely available for parents. More research has to be done in order to discover the potential motivation and grounds for abandonment of therapy.
Training Opportunities:No
