About Me/My interests: Emily Drake is interested in both pediatric and young adult cancer survivor psychosocial oncology research. She recently completed her master’s thesis which looked at the experience of sexuality of young adult cancer survivors. Currently, she is involved in a number of projects that are investigating the quality of life of these survivor populations to help gain the information that is needed to create effective programs, policies and interventions.
Current Projects: She is currently working at the Jewish General Hospital/McGill University as a research associate for Dr. Sylvie Aubin in the Louise Granofsky Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Segal Cancer Center. As part of her position with Dr. Aubin’s lab, she is working on one of her projects that is evaluating the impact of a brief three-session intervention program designed for young adults diagnosed with cancer (YAC). The goal of the intervention is to provide YAC with coping skills and resources to help them manage cancer-related challenges, including but not limited to issues surrounding sexuality and relationships.
