About Me/My interests: Since 2000, my life’s work has been focused on building the Center for Cancer Counseling. My dream was to have a place that offers cancer patients (children, teens, young adults, adults, seniors) and their family members a safe place to receive the emotional help, education and guidance so desperately needed when dealing with cancer, and a place for families facing death to receive the education, support and assistance that is vital to this difficult time.
My dream was to be able to provide these services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. With the help and dedication of close colleagues and donors, my dream for the Center continues to grow and blossom.
As a learning tool about grief and developmental issues, I have written a novel entitled Losing Mom, a family’s journey of transition, hope and perseverance. Losing Mom is about a family of five siblings as they navigate life during their Mom’s diagnosis and cancer treatments, through the years following her death. My goal is for Losing Mom to be a great resource for families helping teens and young adults through a parent’s death, for teens and young adults looking to find some sense of normalcy after this devastating loss, and to provide medical and mental health professionals an opportunity to enhance their appreciation of this journey.
