Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Professionals
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation
Children's National Medical Center's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Washington, DC

Children’s National Medical Center’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders anticipates 1 opening for a Postdoctoral fellowship in the Departments of Hematology/Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) includes both outpatient and inpatient services for children diagnosed with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, severe aplastic anemia, and other malignant and non-malignant disorders. Physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, nurses, social workers and fellows work collaboratively to address the complex problems faced by these patients and their families.

The fellowship consists of clinical training in pediatric psycho-oncology, direct clinical care of patients and families, opportunities for didactics in Hem/Onc/BMT and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and participation in developing clinical programs and research at CNMC. Clinical activities include inpatient consultation/liaison and outpatient therapy, with an emphasis on cognitive/behavioral and family systems approaches. Opportunities to work in our Long-term Follow-up Clinic for survivors of childhood cancer are also available. Clinical hours and supervision for licensure will be provided. This is a primarily clinical position with opportunities to participate in developing research projects within the Center.

The position is a one-year fellowship, beginning summer 2013. Start date is negotiable. The option for a second year advanced fellowship may be available with consideration of funding and matching fellow/program interests. Candidates with previous clinical and research experiences in pediatric behavioral medicine are encouraged to apply.  Stipends are approximately $39,000 plus benefits. All applicants must: 1) have attended an APA-accredited graduate program in clinical, clinical-child, or health psychology; 2) have completed an APA-accredited internship; and 3) have completed all requirements for their Ph.D. prior to beginning the position. To apply, please send the following as email attachment or mail: 1) a cover letter; 2) a CV; and 3) three letters of recommendation sent directly from your recommenders.
