Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Professionals
Child/Pediatric Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship
The Children's Hospital of Chicago

The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is offering a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical child/pediatric psychology for the 2014-2015 academic year. The post-doctoral fellow will participate as a member of the consultation-liaison team, providing services to the hospital inpatients and emergency department one day per week throughout the year. Referrals come from all medical services in the hospital including, but not limited to, endocrine, immunology, transplant teams, oncology, neurology, etc. Issues addressed include assessment pre and post-surgery, mood and behavior changes following medical procedures, psychological factors that may be contributing to a child’s medical condition, depression related to an illness, anxiety regarding invasive or aversive procedures, adaptation and coping with a medical diagnosis and/or with complicated medical regimens, poor adherence to medical regimens, etc. In addition, the post-doctoral fellow will provide services to a general outpatient population presenting for psychological assessment and intervention at a large urban hospital. Patients comprise an extremely diverse group with a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. Special teams such as the trauma team, the mood and anxiety program, and the right start clinic (for 0-5 year olds), among others, provide opportunities for specialized training and experience. Opportunities for additional training are present and post-doctoral fellows have significant latitude in designing programs to meet their specific needs. In addition, supervision training is provided in the context of post-doctoral supervision of 1st and 2nd year practicum students.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vita, and three letters of reference to Karen Gouze, Ph.D. at kgouze@luriechildrens.org. Minority applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago serves an extremely diverse population and all trainees have the opportunity to work with people from different ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
