Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Professionals

The Department of Psychology at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH), Memphis, TN, is soliciting applications for an immediate opening for a pediatric psychologist with an emphasis on children with cancer and hematological disorders. Clinical populations served include infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematological disorders, and HIV/AIDS. The position includes providing direct patient care through inpatient and outpatient consults and ongoing intervention as well as supervision of psychological examiners, graduate students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. Psychometric assessment of children with cancer or sickle cell disease and cancer survivors will also be performed.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-approved program with a pre-doctoral internship, preferably APA-approved, and a post-doctoral fellowship as an applied psychologist. Experience in a medical setting with pediatric patients is preferred. The psychologist will be required to have licensure as a psychologist with Health Service Provider designation in the State of Tennessee.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a private, non-profit children’s research hospital and is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Approximately 5,700 active patients are seen at St. Jude each year, most of whom are treated on a continuing outpatient basis as part of ongoing research programs.  The hospital also has 78 beds for patients requiring hospitalization during treatment.  St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. The Psychology Department is an active, vibrant department in the institution with 14 psychologists, 3 senior psychological examiners, 6 post-doctoral fellows, 2 pre-doctoral interns, and several graduate students.Approximately 1,100 psychological assessments and 500 initial consults are conducted each year, with ongoing psychological care provided to many of these patients.
