The Division of Medical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida is seeking multiple positions for the psychology postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology beginning approximately July 1, 2014, or as soon as possible thereafter. The postdoctoral fellowship is in a major medical center in a pleasant community of about 200,000 with a modest cost of living and high quality of life.
The Division of Medical Psychology is searching for candidates with a doctoral degree from APA approved graduate program and internship in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology with a pediatric/clinical child focus as well as an interest in working with adults.
The team includes the Chief of Medical Psychology, two Assistant Professors of Psychology, several psychology postdoctoral fellows, clinical child/pediatric interns, psychology graduate students, and numerous undergraduate trainees. The mission includes teaching and mentoring trainees in evidence based clinical service and research with diverse trainees from clinical and health psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, and child and adult psychiatry.
The duties for this position will include primarily clinical work with some teaching and supervision, as well as research opportunities. Clinical research cuts across mental and behavioral health to study treatment processes and outcomes in evidence-based psychological and psychiatric treatment with children and adults and their families. Candidates will have the opportunity to become involved in studies conducted in clinics for OCD across the lifespan, pediatric T1D, and psychological testing. Most fellows stay for a second year of training, although this is dependent on the individual.
