Zhihui Liu, Ph.D

I graduated from Nanjing University, China in 1995 and received my PhD degree from Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences in 2004. I began to work for the Cell and Molecular Biology Section in 2004. My research project focuses on function study of CASZ1, a zinc-finger transcription factor as a developmental gene and tumor suppressor. I identified that low CASZ1 expression is significantly correlated with decreased survival probability and specific restoration of CASZ1 in NB cells suppressed tumorigenicity, these results suggest CASZ1 is candidate Chromosome 1p36 tumor suppressor. Further study focusing on mechanism of CASZ1 function is on going.
