Leigh Marcus, MD
Dr. Marcus received her MD from Medical College of Virginia/VCU in Richmond, VA and completed a pediatric residency at Yale Hospital in New Haven, CT. She then pursued a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the joint program of Johns Hopkins University-National Cancer Institute. Dr Marcus joined the PET Section in 2008 and has a vested interest in clinical trial design. She is currently enrolled in the NIH-Duke masters in clinical research program. She developed and validated an analytical assay for the oral platinum agent, satraplatin, and studies the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid pharmacokinetics of satraplatin in non-human primates. She developed a phase I trial of satraplatin, an oral platinum analog, which will open for enrollment in summer 2010. She is also developing a phase I trial with a targeted oral agent for patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 and inoperable plexiform neurofibromas. Dr Marcus resides in Potomac, MD with her husband and daughter.
