Dr. Hong received his DVM from Seoul National University, South Korea in 1990 and Ph.D. in Veterinary Surgery Department from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2000. Dr. Hong joined the Dr. Khanna’s laboratory in 2003. As a veterinary scientist and senior research fellow, he had developed and modified new metastasis biology models such as Single Cell Video Microscopy (SCVM) and Pulmonary Metastasis Assay (PuMA). Dr. Hong has published first author manuscript for murine osteosarcoma primary tumor growth and metastatic progression is maintained after marked suppression of serum insulin-like growth factor I (Int J Cancer 2009). His research goals is to “shed new light” on the process of cancer metastasis by visualizing cancer cells in each step of metastatic cascade using in vivo/ex vivo confocal imaging techniques in the metastatic organ such as the lung or lymph nodes.
